make the materials available after the course is over.
When I click on "course syllabus", the syllabus does not show up and the materials are not available. New users should be able to learn after the course has completed.

markdown
CKEditor is great for some, but personally I find it very cumbersome to use. It would be great to be able to use markdown syntax for formatting course information and details.

Default to sorting course list by open courses
The course listing page at http://p2pu.org/course/list doesn't default to sorting by open courses first. This would probably be the most sensible default.

course suggestion feature
should let people indicate if they would be willing to run the course or not, and integrate nicely with the "create a course" workflow. Also include an "Adopt this Course" feature for courses whose organisers are no longer able to run them. This adoption mechanism could also be used for course ideas with no obvious owner.

Improve course list filter
Filtering by course status doesn't appear to be working right now. I am using FF3.6 on Mac OS X. I have tried filtering just by status and with status and keyword search, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Given the small number of courses on offer right now, I wouldn't describe this as a critical issue, but I think it's worth mentioning.

Q&A area, rather than forum
A simple questions and answer layout, say something like uservoice itself, but instead of idea it would be a question and answer follows, makes things more clear and easy.

improve formatting on notification emails
right now there's not a lot of white space and the stripped down formatting looks kind of messy. it would be nice to format them a bit nicer.

some way to link to a comment in a thread.
In the comment template we could add some way to link to a comment in the thread.
Sometimes I want to do this, and there's no way to reveal the "permalink" to that comment in the current site.

Better timezone handling across the board
Course members often need to decide on international group meeting times. So far the votes have been outsourced to third party applications generally. A simple poll (Drupal core) could facilitate the process of meeting decisions.
from stian:
Initially in our specs (for the second cycle) we had a calendar. The idea, which I got from Edufire, which does this very well, was that you would tell the system your time zone when you signed up, and all events would then be displayed in your time zone - for a project as global as ours, that would be quite important. However,…

custom chat capability: irc meets skype chat
irc is awesome because people can add themselves and it's totally free and open, but it would be nice to have the added features of a) adding users to a chat so that they receive the transcript even if they weren't there in person, and b) have it logged automatically, possibly to a course-specific location.

Allow <embed> tags in Course Materials and Forum posts
Seems as if these are being stripped out right now. I'm trying to use it to embed a calendar and student work, but no such luck yet.

Save the broadcast mails, for further references
Some times we have to use broadcast to send messages to the team, many time we will have to refer them back, so its better to save them all in the broadcast page.
