Better timezone handling across the board
Course members often need to decide on international group meeting times. So far the votes have been outsourced to third party applications generally. A simple poll (Drupal core) could facilitate the process of meeting decisions.
from stian:
Initially in our specs (for the second cycle) we had a calendar. The idea, which I got from Edufire, which does this very well, was that you would tell the system your time zone when you signed up, and all events would then be displayed in your time zone - for a project as global as ours, that would be quite important. However, we never implemented the time zone functionality, and we also didn't have polling functionality, so the calendar was very little used, and we decided to remove it for now - for simplicity.
I agree that it would be great to have a functional time chooser, as well as a calendar, with integrated notifications, which produces iCal files that people can subscribe to, that respects time zones etc. One for the requests :)

For example, the course administrator would like to schedule a meeting on one of three days Monday at 5PM EST, Tuesday at 5PM EST, or Wednesday at 5PM EST. Users vote on their preferred timeslot and the majority timeslot is chosen.
There are at least two contributed modules that could facilitate this process and there may be more:
